ROOM WITH A VIEW | NEW BRAND

A PROJECT FOR THE CULTURE CAPITAL BAD ISCHL SALZKAMMERGUT 2024

On our numerous trips through the Salzkammergut we discovered contrasting worlds in a very small geographical space. This gave rise to our idea of developing a slow hotel concept that is about overnight stays with meaning and sensuality.

Rooms with a view is the realization of our wish to visualize the inspiring landscape and regional craft techniques in existing hotels and guesthouses and to transform them into sustainable but modernly designed Salzkammergut rooms.  The rooms with a view extend like a "patchwork quilt" over 8 places in the Salzkammergut. Starting is in the Almtal, then it goes over the Traunsee to the Attersee, on to Bad Ischl, into the Gosau and the last stop is Bad Mitterndorf in the Auseerland.

The rooms are similar in very different ways and are intended to inspire guests to find out more about the Salzkammergut. Our design is always based on what already exists and blends in with the old. What they have in common is the attempt to define a contemporary but autochthonous design language, typical of the Salzkammergut, through the same sustainably designed design objects and regional materials that we use in interior design. It's about the crossover of design, craftsmanship, old and new.

All rooms with a view are equipped with the same specially designed design objects. They are everyday objects as well as artistic sculptures.

For this we invited 3 international design teams to each work on a theme typical of the Salzkammergut. The 5 themes and the associated design objects are: Board cut, found in ball balustrades. This is reinterpreted in a series of benches and armchairs by Lucy.D. The traditional costumes and the matching fabrics become a headboard that decorates each of the different beds. For the theme of nature in the Salzkammergut, we discovered the rust grass, from which typical regional Patschen (slippers) are woven and this can be found in a pendant lamp designed by KIM+HEEP. The wild animals in the forests of the Salzkammergut are hidden in the mirror objects Hide+Seek by mischer'traxler studio. And last but not least, the eponymous material salt in combination with rock found in the region cannot be missing. The French team of architects from inFABric has designed a drinking ritual made of glass and stone.

We were able to win many regional production companies and manufacturers as partners for the implementation of the project:
