Simplicity generates Quality!

The Lucy.D studio was founded by the designers Barbara Ambrosz and Karin Santorso in Vienna in 2003, and another studio was added in Steyr in 2016. The two designers studied industrial design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where they both also taught. Their work is about an open and clear approach to things. This often results in artistic projects in the categories of product, architecture and corporate design. Lucy.D's basic approach is to explore the poetry in everyday life. This is the starting point for the development of inspiring and practical products. In their design concepts, form, function and technology are intelligently in harmony. The balance between tradition and innovation, meaning and sensual pleasure, detail and ensemble is sought.

Ambrosz and Santorso work in an interdisciplinary manner, often in cooperation with various partners. They plan concepts with sensitivity for the brand and the material and accompany the implementation and production up to the finished product. In 2017, Ambrosz and Santorso founded Neu/Zeug, a label for modern and sustainably produced porcelain lamps, together with the owner of a porcelain factory, Beate Seckauer. (>neuzeug.at)

Tèo, a teaspoon for Alessi, was awarded the Menzione d'onore Compasso d'Oro 2014, Liquid Skin, the drinking bowl for Lobmeyr, is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in NY, among others. The cake collection for the Viennese coffee house Landtmann was awarded the Wallpaper Design Award 2015.
